The Israel Economic Mission invites you to engage with the best and brightest minds from Israel and the Bay Area at the world's first biotech accelerator, IndieBio. Listen to industry leaders' key insights on venture and corporate investments in biotech. Israel's Chief Scientist, Avi Hasson, will give the keynote speech covering the landscape of the Israeli biotech economy. Avi is the Chief Scientist of the Ministry of Economy of Israel. The Office of the Chief Scientist (OCS) is the government entity in charge of the execution of government policy for support
of industrial R&D.

Daniel Kraft, MD

Singularity University

Daniel Kraft is a Stanford and Harvard trained physician-scientist, inventor, entrepreneur, and innovator. Daniel has chaired the Medicine Track for Singularity University since SU’s inception.

Alex de Winter, Ph. D.

Director of HC Ventures, GE Ventures

Alex de Winter invests in life science instrumentation and clinical diagnostics startups, leading GE Ventures’ investment in Veracyte (VCYT). Alex joined GE Ventures from Mohr Davidow Ventures in 2013.

Asish Xavier, Ph. D.

VP Venture Investments, Johnson & Johnson Innovation – JJDC

Asish joined Johnson & Johnson Development Corporation (JJDC) in 2004. He focuses on venture investments in biotechnology and diagnostics and has invested in over a dozen biotech and diagnostics deals.

Brent Ahrens

General Partner, Canaan Partners

Brent Ahrens joined Canaan in 1999 as a member of the Kauffman Fellows Program. Brent focuses on healthcare investments and has led investments in many life sciences companies.

Scott Nolan

Partner, Founder's Fund

Scott Nolan is a Partner at Founders Fund, where he focuses on investments in technology-driven companies across sectors including energy, biotechnology, aerospace, healthcare and advanced manufacturing.

Margarita Chavez

Senior Director, AbbVie Ventures

Margarita has nearly 20 years of dealmaking experience.  She has been in her current role since 2010 (then Abbott Biotech Ventures), leading close to a dozen investments and managing portfolio companies in the US and Europe.

Arun Kumar

Strategy & Business Development, LifeScience iHUB, Bayer

Arun’s focus is on developing partnerships with tech companies related to digital innovation in the lifesciences. He is passionate about innovation, particularly in settings such as emerging markets. Arun joined Bayer from Medtronic in 2014.
